At the conclusion of the activity, participants should be able to:

• Explain the concept of compounding of non-sterile compounding formulations and how it is different to pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Discuss the market for these formulations, distributors of compounding equipment, devices and ingredients and professional organizations related to the compounding of non-sterile compounding formulations.
• Describe the standards for compounding quality nonsterile preparations, included in revised USP <795>, which will be implemented on November 1, 2023.
• Describe practice and quality standards for handling hazardous drugs (HDs) as these standards (USP <800>) will be enforced after November 1, 2023.
• Value compounding of non-sterile formulations in pharmacy practice.
